The Gold Buffalo was the first coin from the United States Mint that contained 1 oz of .9999 fine Gold. This beautiful coin is popular worldwide and is highly recognizable with its well-known Buffalo Nickel design.

Design

American Gold Buffalo Coins pay homage to the first Buffalo nickels that were minted back in 1913. The coins were created to depict the marvelous native and natural heritage of the West. The designs for both the reverse and obverse sides of the coins were achieved by James Earl Fraser, the renowned American sculptor. He, of course, was famously a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens who designed one of the most remarkable and beloved American coins, the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle. In many ways, investing in an American Gold Buffalo Coins is to celebrate America’s outstanding coin history while investing in this precious metal.

The obverse side of American Gold Buffalo Coins features a profile view of a proud Native American. Customers will note the exquisite details of the face, as well as the braid of the hair. The feathers are also engraved with exceptional artistry. Inscriptions include the year of minting, as well as the word “Liberty.”

The reverse side of these coins showcases a buffalo, one of the enduring symbols of the American West. It, too, features magnificent design artistry, which is evident in every detail. The riverside side features the inscriptions “In God We Trust,” “United States of America,” and “E Pluribus Unum.” Weight and purity are also stamped on these coins.
